Over the past decade, audiences worldwide have experienced the powerful work of Micah Bournes through his passionate spoken word performance and hip hop records. In his debut collection of poetry, Micah reveals himself a force to be reckoned with on the page as well. A staunch non-conformist, Bournes encourages the dreamers to dream without apology as he continues his unrelenting mission: to fight evil with poetry.

Important for 2020

What I love about this poet is that he can mix emotion and humor so seemlesly. I have read lots of poets in the last few years and if there is a primary thing getting used, it is evocative language. While humor isn't ignored, it is seldom used in much of the poetry I've been reading. Micah doesn't blend evocative language and humor so much as seemlessly employ each one to highlight an issue or his experience of that issue. Reading Bournes' poetry gave me goosebumps. This is a great collection for right now. Here is a voice, this dreamer, who is someone we all need to listen to. I can't wait to read more from him. Highly recommended.

Powerful poetry!

Got this book on Sunday and It's my second read through. Just ruminating on the words and getting to know the poet through it. Some pieces made me uncomfortable, searching within myself to understand why I was feeling that way. Still others had me saying "yes, this!" *snap snap snap* "speak this truth to life!" If you want a book of poetry that challenges you and makes you pursue dreams and turn them to reality, pick this one up!

Must Read Poetry Collection

I've got a lot of poetry books in my collection but this one by far spoke to me the most. I've not even been able to finish I've had to reread section 1 multiple times. My favorite is hoopers and MCs, there goes the neighborhood, native tongue, choppin, and stickin & manna. This book is a must read!

A must read!

Micah Bournes is a dreamer. As the title suggests, he captures the dreams of not just a better world, but the dreams of equality, grace, and wonder in a beautiful way. You’ll fine find pain, anger, yes—but more than that you’ll find yourself reading each poem again and again as it challenges you to see the world differently.

Phenomenal Poetry Collection

Micah Bournes' work is amazing. The poetry is an intense combination of strong, tender, sorrowful, and hopeful. It is a must-own collection of work for anyone who loves poetry.

Talented poet/writer

He puts different emotions into words very effectively. He gets the meaning of his poems across in a clear way while still being poetic. The few times I do read poetry I usually find the poems too abstract to understand. His though I understand. As well as some of his poems being heavy, there's humor, positivity and spirituality too in his poems. His spectrum is broad which you would expect from a good poet/writer.

"Realistic dreams are oxymorons"

Incredible! Will not only help you *feel* Micah's struggles and laughs and questions, but will teach you about yourself and where you fit yourself in this world as a Dreamer.
